Sustainable Agriculture and Food Systems Funders

Sustainable Agriculture and Food Systems Funders (SAFSF) is a network of approximately 100 individual investors, regranting organizations, community foundations, and foundations operating throughout the U.S. and abroad to support all parts of the food and farming system at the intersections of climate change and resilience, community health, equity and justice, and rural development. In 2022, Network Impact conducted a baseline assessment of SAFSF member perspectives on value generation, levels of member engagement and connectivity, and pathways to impact, including the impact that SAFSF has on members’ practices in centering equity in their work. In a second phase of work in 2023, Network Impact contributed to the development of an SAFSF network model that aligned with network objectives and member priorities and was consistent with network best practice. The proposed model addresses SAFSF capacity needs in light of the network’s focus across the Connectivity-Alignment- Production (CAP) spectrum.
